MADAME

Development and validation of high durability materials for application in maritime structures and spurs vulnerable to climate change

The general objective of the project is the development of a new concept for vertical dykes that combines the use of new construction materials, structural design and optimal construction processes to obtain elements of high structural integrity and durability against environmental agents, as well as the development of a robust instrumentation system for monitoring the structural and functional behaviour of dykes throughout their useful life, thus increasing the resilience of port infrastructures to the effects of climate change.

DRAGADOS, a leading construction company in Spain with a significant international projection coordinates MADAME with the participation of the following companies: DRACE, specialised in special structures that require a strong technological component; GALAICONTROL, specialised in quality control in the construction sector; FUNDACIÓN AGUSTÍN BETANCOURT, a foundation that promotes scientific and technical research; and CTC TECHNOLOGICAL CENTRE, a leading centre in the development of structural simulation and in the analysis of stress, fracture mechanics and fatigue of elements subjected to the marine environment.

This initiative has been funded by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness and the State Research Agency, within the Retos Colaboración 2017 Programme.
