Artificial Intelligence Applied to Corrosion Management in Water Cooling Systems

The objective of this project is to develop a 4.0 corrosion management system in an industrial plant, aimed at industrial water cooling systems with carbon steel piping. The goal is to optimize productivity while reducing environmental and safety risks. To achieve this, an online parameter monitoring system has been developed to obtain large-scale data. By applying artificial intelligence, an evolving corrosion model will be generated.

I-COR is led by ARCELORMITTAL, an innovative company specialized in steel production and the implementation of new technologies in all steel processes. IDONIAL TECHNOLOGICAL CENTER, with extensive experience in preventing, detecting, and analysing various degradation issues in metallic materials and coatings, and CTC TECHNOLOGICAL CENTER, responsible for developing the evolving corrosion model using artificial intelligence technologies, are also participating in the project.

This initiative has been funded by Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad and Agencia Estatal de Investigación, as part of the Retos Colaboración 2019 program.
