Integrated Research Programme on Wind Energy

IRPWIND is an integrated research programme combining strategic research projects and support activities within the field of wind energy, with the aim of exploiting the long-term potential of European research. The concept behind this programme builds on the success of existing initiatives supporting the SET Plan Agenda.

IRPWIND goes beyond the delivery of research projects as it integrates capabilities and resources around the development of high-risk technologies, enabling Europe to maintain its global competitive leadership position in terms of excellence in research and application of wind energy technologies.

CTC is developing several numerical modelling and material selection tasks applied to grouted joint wind tower joints. In addition, methods have been defined to study the reliability of the metallic components of this type of joint.
