CFD analysis of TSA deposition

The objectives of the OPTISPRAY project of the company DEGIMA are:

• To investigate in detail the process of applying aluminium coating based on the TSA technique by means of electric arc.
• To acquire knowledge to allow the development of new procedures that optimise the industrial process and enable DEGIMA to produce coatings tailored to the needs of its customers.
• To develop a gun nozzle for TSA that produces better quality coatings than those currently produced, projecting a greater quantity of particles onto the substrate and reducing the waste of raw material.

CTC’s contribution is to investigate coating specifications related to corrosion protection and to obtain a computational fluid dynamics model representing the new nozzle design and the projected two-phase media.
